The School for Good and Evil

Updated: Jun 19, 2019

To say that The School for Good and Evil is brilliant is possibly the understatement of the century. Every four years, two children are stolen away - one for the school of good, to be the hero of a fairy tale - and one for the school of evil, to be the villain. While most children stay up all night, shaking with fear, Sophie has waited all of her life to be kidnapped. With her unblemished skin and flowing locks of golden hair, she knows she would be the perfect princess, so she can't believe her luck when she and her friend Agatha, who has short black hair and lives in a graveyard, get kidnapped. But sometimes the princess and the witch don't look like they do in fairy tales...

The reason that I love this book is that it is a fairy tale, but soooooo different. It starts off perfectly normal in a quaint little village, but then you start to realise not all is as it seems. Eventually, you see how wrong you are - there is something very strange going on. There are so many twists and turns in this book that you feel like you're on a rollercoaster ride - one minute Sophie looks definitely good, the next a golden goose has sacrificed it's power rather than help her; and while Agatha is one minute looking like a witch, the next she is the first in her class to talk to animals. This book is VERY unpredictable - I can guarantee you will never be able to guess what surprises are in store, and you will also never be able to put it down - which is exactly why I like it. Anyone who doesn't want to read this book is utterly crazy!!!!!!!!!

There are five books in the series and a handbook as well. I think this might be my new favourite series! There is also a website with lots of interesting and fantastical stuff on it like quizzes, contests, blogs, games, a gallery, a very cool trailer for the newest book (watch it here!), a member's community you can join to talk to other School for Good and Evil lovers and you can even find out which school you're in! Hopefully not a villain!! ; ) See schoolforgoodandevil.com!

In the forest primeval,

A school for Good and Evil

Two towers like twin heads,

One for the pure

One for the wicked

Try to escape you'll always fail

The only way out is

Through a Fairy Tale
